Fabric Care

Not all fabrics are washable. Britex generally recommends that all wool, silks, metallics, viscose-acetate, and home furnishing fabrics be dry cleaned. Generally speaking, cottons, polys, linens and nylons can be washed. Everything is best washed in cold water and line dried, or lain flat (knits especially are better when dried flat). Hot dryers will deplete color.

Tip

If there are strong colors in a natural fiber, a teaspoon of vinegar added to wash water can often help set the dye.

Tip

There are actually some fabrics, like certain beaded fabrics and waxed cottons, that should be neither washed nor dry cleaned, believe it or not!
