From Scraps to Embellishments: How to stimulate creativity and minimize waste. Utilizing yardage to create unique details. A demonstration and hands on experience of using left over materials from fashion or home decor projects to create gorgeous decorative accents, such as flowers, leaves, and headbands. Participants will learn the couching technique, and ways to use yarn and various stitches during the creative process. Leaves, Flowers, Headbands and more! Skills learned in this workshop may be applied to the follow-up workshop Fascinators, by local milliner Elina.
About the Instructor
Elina Davenport is a San Francisco based accessory designer, who specializes in hats and scarves. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, an avid knitter, crocheter and sewer, and she launched her Millinery shop, Alternative Design Studio - ADS Hats in 1994 in the Mission District of San Francisco. Elina designs and creates hats and scarves from reclaimed materials. She is inspired by street fashion and textiles from around the world. Currently, Elina is creating unique streetwear from recycled cashmere and other fabrics from her extensive textile collection under the brand Elinary.
