Vogue has just issued a new men’s shirt pattern (V8889, available at Britex Fabrics); with a hidden front button placket, optional shoulder pleats, and fitting seams fore and aft, which promises to add a little spring into any gent’s steps. Sew this with one of Britex Fabrics’ fine shirtings, and swagger into warm weather! As Nanki-Poo from The Mikado sings, “The flowers that bloom in the spring, Tra la, Breathe promise of merry sunshine.”
Amanda visited Britex Fabrics all the way from Ely, United Kingdom, and bought two jacket lengths of Italian wool tweed to make jackets for her children. One of them was this Italian olive and turquoise tweed wool blend. and the other was another coloration of this luscious tweed fabric. She used Vogue patterns, and we think they turned out superbly! We especially love the red buttonholes, which act as a charming foil to the blues.
Lois and Gloria are loyal and long-time Britex Fabrics customers, who have been shopping together since the early 1960’s! Lois made her stripped jacket from Vogue Very Easy pattern #8263, a lovely style with a curved front seam detail. Gloria also used a Vogue pattern for her jacket, remodeling it with a horizontal stripped front band. Lois and Gloria also made their beautifully sewn lined slacks. Douglas assisted them, and all fabrics were bought on Britex’s first floor.
