The Britex Blog
December 3, 2014 by Britex FabricsThe 2014 Guest Blogger Re-cap is here—because you’ve probably missed a few pretty amazing projects along the way this year and because we're so proud of each blogger’s ability to transform Britex fabrics into beautiful garments and accessories. During the next few weeks you’ll be treated to exclusive re-caps of our favorite guest blogger projects. We’ll show you the best of the best from each of our guest bloggers with all their individual style. Let's see…we have bloggers contributing from Australia, Canada, Portland (OR), Chicago, Brooklyn and around Northern California (of course). Today's featured blogger is from across the continent where the sun always shines, except for when it pours. Tori of One Eleven Studio is a bag maker from Florida with a love for simple design and quality textiles.
May 14, 2014 by One Eleven StudioGuest Blogger here at Britex Fabrics! I am from a small town in North Central Florida called Gainesville, home of the University of Florida (Go Gators!). Although I don’t live there anymore it’s always fun going back home to visit the Butterfly Museum, Art Festivals, Plays and Shows, and just enjoying fun times with my family.

After sixty plus years in San Francisco, Britex has seen unbelievable changes from the close of City of Paris and I.Magnin to the rise of tech in our very neighborhood. And now, even our usual style of keeping production local is receiving a different sort of attention. Our fabrics still come from all over the world, but our tote bags are made right here in San Francisco. We're proud to announce that this year we are officially SFMade members.
SFMade’s mission is to build and support a vibrant manufacturing sector in San Francisco, that sustains companies producing locally-made products, encourages entrepreneurship and innovation, and creates employment opportunities for a diverse local workforce. Visit SFMade before you shop and you'll be surprised to find out how many local companies are contributing to our local economy from casual fashion to your favorite food truck.
If you want to celebrate with us with great design, purchase your limited edition tote bag soon before they're all gone.

Introducing the revival of our popular San Francisco lace skyline tote, plus two new designs; “COLOR” and "Glimmer, Glamour, Gleam”! These totes are sturdy enough for library books, market runs, picnic totes, and shopping expeditions. These limited edition heavy duty canvas totes were created and hand-screen printed for Britex Fabrics by a local designer in foggy San Francisco. Want a great gift giving idea? Instead of a stocking, give something people can use throughout the year, and stuff a beautiful Britex Fabrics canvas tote with luscious goodies such as handmade, home-baked and locally crafted items….or even sewing and craft supplies! Tote size is a hunky 14” by 16”.
July 30, 2013 by Britex FabricsWe're picky! We want everything we offer to our customers to be beautiful and make a statement. We also want to have fun doing it. That's why we keep it local. This limited edition canvas tote bag was designed by a San Francisco graphic designer, printed 20 minutes from our store, and sewn in the Dogpatch. We paid a little visit to the printer last week, and had way more fun than expected.

Keeping it green is chic; San Francisco leads the way in the U.S., and Britex is up first on the environmental runway with this sturdy white taffeta tote bag. The purpose of the Plastic Bag Reduction Ordinance legislation is to encourage customers to bring their own checkout bags, in order to reduce the impact of disposable bags to the City and the environment. In the spirit of environmental chic, Britex Fabrics commissioned 100 of Lauren Dicioccio's tote bags just as the Plastic Bag Reduction Ordinance took action. The Britex Fabrics’ tote bag is machine embroidered in red on white taffeta, is a sturdy and washable totes, and intended for daily use. Bags are $35 and available in-store and online! See our awesome window display. You can find out more about Lauren Dicioccio at The Workshop Residence in San Francisco.
