The Britex Blog
December 30, 2014 by Britex FabricsThe 2014 Guest Blogger Re-cap is here—because you’ve probably missed a few pretty amazing projects along the way this year and because we’re so proud of each blogger’s ability to transform Britex fabrics into beautiful garments and accessories. During the next few weeks you’ll be treated to exclusive re-caps of our favorite guest blogger projects. We’ll show you the best of the best from each of our guest bloggers with all their individual style. Jamie of Jamie Lau Designs contributed a total of 5 projects this year---busy bee, she is. If you haven't noticed, she loves fabrics with structure like linen and cotton, and has a special interest in colorblocking patterns, which pretty much guarantees beautiful and uncommon garments. Yes, you heard right. We are taking a break from pop-up workshops, but not without a better offer in exchange. Warp x Weft: Textile 101 workshops are now happening on the Fourth floor of Britex!
Many of you joined us last year all over San Francisco for demos and workshops like simple dress-making by Sonya Philip at Makeshift Society, leather-working by Melissa Fleis at the NWBLK, and of course, textile workshops by our very own textile whiz Geana Sieburger.
Now with our new workshop space on the Fourth Floor, we first bring you Warp x Weft: Textile 101---a 2-hour fiber and textile construction intensive. Next in-store are workshops from designers, artists and other experts, so stay tuned.
If you love to sew, get giddy over textiles and feel immense joy learning about these things in groups of people who feel the same way about sewing and textiles, don't take a chance---subscribe to the newsletter at the footer of this page or on our homepage and never miss an opportunity. New workshops, demos and events are currently under development...
P.S. Join us for a workshop-space launch party in April! Date will be announced soon.

The world of linings and interlinings can sometimes be mysterious, and because of that, can often be an afterthought. That's why, when our POP-UP Britex sponsor Apparel Arts ran an article explaining the differences between these unique layers, we asked if we could share it on the Britex Blog. Read on and let us know if you found it helpful!

Our next pop-up is right around the corner (rumor is that there are still a few seats left). This workshop will be taught by Jamie Lau, a designer, sewing instructor, fashion editor, and author. Jamie is no stranger to Britex---maybe you'll remember---in December of last year Britex hosted the SF launch party of BurdaStyle Sewing Vintage Modern, of which she is the co-author. On Thursday, May 16 she'll teach POP-UP Britex: Color Blocking Workshop at Photobooth in the Mission. Here is a little color blocking preview...
