  • Halloween Contest Winner

October 29, 2013 by Britex Fabrics

Every year, for as long as any of us can recall, Britex has a staff Halloween costume contest that is off-the-wall. We invite our customers to be judges of creativity and sewing skill by casting their vote for best costume. This year, Natalie was the winner with her Magpie costume. Jeanette, as a Fairy Ice Queen, took second place.

Get ready to be amazed by the other contestants, which run the gamut from absolutely hilarious to awesomely witty. Join us next year and judge for yourself.

  • Winner of PVF Coat Giveaway

Laura's daughter proudly wearing the adorable "play dress." Looks intentional to me!

Our winner is Laura from Seattle, WA--where she will certainly put the beautiful new Poppy Von Frohlich coat to good use. Here is her sewing blunder-turned-triumph tale...

"I was making a top from the free Sorbetto pattern from Colette Patterns. It calls for a center pleat. I had happened to read in the Coletterie blog about adding rickrack under pleats for a design twist so I put some black pompoms instead because I had no other rickrack in my stash. The fabric I chose was a very busy cotton with Japanese kokeshi dolls. Well, by the time I finished and showed it to hubby for an opinion he gave me a side eye look. Fail. Never got that look before.

Failure turned out ok because I altered it by adding more pleats to be my little girl's dress. I had enough fabric to make long sleeves and two tiers of ruffles. My little girl loves it despite the pompoms being reminiscent of spiders dangling in the middle pleat!"

Thank you to everyone who participated!

    Have a happy new year!
