  • Silk with Swallows

December 3, 2012 by Britex Fabrics

We are swooning for this new Italian silk fabric that just came in! A classic navy blue with vintage-inspired ivory swallows flying throughout - perfect for a long elegant scarf à la Isadora Duncan. “The dancer's body is simply the luminous manifestation of the soul.”

  • Birds with Nests - Home Decorating Fabric

March 19, 2010 by Britex Fabrics

I love this new home decorating fabric depicting delightfully perched wrens with their nests, springtime flowering tree branches, and cavorting butterflies. I’d use it for pleated kitchen curtains, and trim them with swinging oversized blue ball-fringe! This 54” wide cotton is available on Britex Fabric’s 2nd floor for $29.99/yard. It comes in blue/rusty orange/yellow ocher (shown) or pink/taupe/fuchsia. Emily says it best:
“For every Bird a Nest --
    Wherefore in timid quest
Some little Wren goes seeking round --
Wherefore when boughs are free --
    Households in every tree --
    Pilgrim be found?
Perhaps a home too high --
    Ah Aristocracy!
    The little Wren desires --
Perhaps of twig so fine --
    Of twine e'en superfine,
    Her pride aspires --
    The Lark is not ashamed
    To build upon the ground
    Her modest house --
Yet who of all the throng
    Dancing around the sun
    Does so rejoice?”

    (Emily Dickinson)
