We think that cowboy boots and Missoni zig-zags go together like spaghetti westerns and revenge! Natalie agrees. Natalie from Britex Fabrics’ 3rd floor notions department looks pleased as punch, and who wouldn’t while wearing this modified boat-neck top made of luxurious Missoni knit fabric from our 1st floor Missoni collection! Natalie whipped this snappy number from just one yard of fabric, and edged the neckline with wool fold-over trim from the 3rd floor.

What do crafty moms do when they need a babysitter? Molly, our diligent 3rd floor assistant, is wearing a one of a kind dress made by Emily, the second floor manager and sewing wiz. Sure, they are friends, but this dress goes beyond friendship; it is a trade for two nights of babysitting! The Guatemalan cotton fabric is sold both in our San Francisco store and our online store, and the pattern was McCalls 5577 (discontinued).
Shhhh……the talented and warm-hearted Melody, from Britex Fabrics’ 2nd floor, created this crazy quilt heart block as her contribution to a very special Mother’s Day project for Mrs. Spector, the founder of Britex Fabrics! The square measures 12” by 16” and is completely hand quilted and hand embroidered. It took Melody about five weeks to design and execute the project. We love the pictures of Mrs. Spector, Melody, and the iconic Britex Fabrics’ sign that Melody included in her quilted masterpiece. Photos by Charlie Wambeke.
From Britex Fabrics to Mickey; Melody machine-sewed this exquisite quilt, and Sharman picked out the charming Japanese focus print. This friendship quilt is constructed of a lively mélange of mossy green and plumy purple fabrics, with the patterns of each swirling square being reminiscent of an open camera aperture. The quilt is 44.5” by 61”, and took Melody 173 hours to complete.
Melody, from Britex Fabrics’ 2nd floor, constructed this beautiful quilt as a gift for one of our much loved employees who is at home recovering from illness. Melody even industriously organized four floors of employees so that they could add personal messages. We are all hoping that we’ll see our sick co-worker bouncingly back at work soon!
Melody created this charming bib apron of Britex Fabric cotton strewn with wine connoisseur gewgaws including corkscrews, wine stemware, oak wine barrels, wing corkscrews, wooden corkscrews, corks, and bottles of wine….and then she trimmed the hem with brown rick-rack! This would make a lovely gift for any host or hostess.
Secretary made these chic overalls for her nephew, “Little Hog”. They are sewn out of sturdy Japanese cotton/linen from Britex that is adorned with wee planes, helicopters and floaty little clouds. We love Secretaries attention to detail; the slash pockets are lined with natural linen, she used brass snaps for fasteners, and she fashioned these pants from a vintage pattern. “Little Hog” is going to be one stylin’ dude! Japanese cotton/linen is 44” wide and can be found on Britex Fabric’s 2nd floor.
Mel created this scrumptious scarf from imported print velvet on Britex Fabric’s 1st floor, and a solid ultramarine blue
rayon/silk velvet from our 2nd floor. The ends are accentuated with silk ribbon tassels that complement the abstract design of the print delightfully. This would brighten up any gloomy day!
M. Du Jour has finally completed making their rubber spats, and wore them into the office today! They are made from chrome snaps from Britex, up-cycled truck inner tubes, and rivets, with pattern guidance from Minnie at thankyoufornotbeingperky. These spats are très chic, with a touch of la brute, and are ideal for rainy San Francisco winter weather. No more unsightly rubber galoshes; these will keep your calves dry, and your attire en vogue.
