britex-gathering-header What do you guys think about my wild new blouse? No, I am not going to Woodstock and yes, I am totally feeling this groovy fabric (peace, love, and Britex Fabrics). The pattern is the SBCC Gibson and I had not made it until planning this project and I'm so glad I did, especially in this beautiful butterfly print silk crepe de chine! . I know the word "silk" can strike fear in a sewist's heart, but this was not an especially difficult fabric to sew. And if you are still nervous about making something with silk then check out this blog post I wrote with some tips on making it a little easier.

miss-crayola-creepy-britex-named-asaka-kimono-7 Have you ever been afraid of sewing with a fabric for absolutely no reason? I was terrified of sewing with silk chiffon because I had heard that it was difficult to sew. Unfortunately, my fear of sewing with silk definitely outweighed by love of wearing it. Well, until I made this lovely Named Asaka Kimono top, that is. If I wanted this fabric/pattern combo to work I would need to immediately take a chill pill and get over my silly little fear. pattern

  • Warm Wool Camden Cape: Made with Novelty Wool Coating

    April 5, 2016 by MissCrayolaCreepy

It may or not be nearing the end of winter here in California and it may or may not have been the best idea to make a lined wool cape, but how could I say "no" when this beautiful fabric was begging to be sewn into an awesome cape?!? Seriously guys, I don't even care that the weather is going to warm up shortly, this cape is going to get a lot of use. I'm going to be wearing it in the middle of summer, dripping sweat, and it's going to have to be pried off my body. Ok, I'm being dramatic, but I am really really in love with what I made!     Miss-Crayola-Creepy-Seamwork-Camden-7-032916
