It's summertime, and drawstring shorts are easy! There are plenty of perfect cottons in a variety of weights available at both our brick-and-mortar and online stores, and you'll find the cording (or elastic if you prefer) and thread on our Third Floor. Tim Anderson's 10-step Instructables tutorial makes this project quick and painless, beginning by tracing your own favorite pair of shorts to make a pattern.

"A shoestring type string is best for a drawstring. It lays flat and holds a knot well."
(Dozens of colors of cording available on the third floor of our brick-and-mortar store.)
If you prefer an elastic waist, get some elastic by the yard when you're at Britex Fabrics. Remember to stretch it flat while sewing so it can bunch up a bit afterward.
