Indie Patterns Come to Britex Guest Bloggers

February 25, 2014 by Britex Fabrics 0 comments

For about a year, our team of Guest Bloggers have been sampling and offering tons of tips on working with a variety of fabrics from our online selection. They have also been sharing their personal tricks on using and altering existing patterns. Here's where the really awesome news comes in---our guest bloggers will now be test driving some of your favorite (or soon to be favorite) independent pattern companies. The list is pretty long, but here are a few. Find the entire list of collaborating pattern companies on our Guest Blogger page.

We are the first company to offer pretty, versatile sewing patterns for pear-shaped women! Our patterns are easy to use and designed to fit and flatter a pear-shaped figure.

We're combining fashion industry experience with decades of sewing knowledge to develop a full range of patterns. Our goal is that with Sewaholic Patterns, you'll be able to sew a practical and pretty wardrobe, tailored to suit your body type. The Sewaholic blog is full of tips, tutorials and step-by-step photo demonstrations to help you sew with confidence!

Megan Nielsen
Each pattern starts with a gorgeous fashion forward design. Our patterns come in a roomy reusable envelope that closes with velcro, so you never lose anything. It contains the full size pattern on sturdy paper and the specially tailored instruction booklet. Each booklet is full of easy to follow illustrated instructions, ideas and sketches for how to customize the design to be even more unique, and dedicated space for taking notes and logging your projects. Our patterns are made to last, and can be used over and over again!

Made by RAE
My focus on creating simple, high-quality patterns with beautiful illustrations, photos, and easy-to-follow instructions based on reader demand has made me one of the leading producers of downloadable PDF sewing patterns online! You can find all of my patterns in the pattern shop. It thrills me to hear how many people have learned to sew with a pattern or tutorial of mine. I love to sew, and I want you to love sewing too!

Liesl + Co. and Oliver + S
Oliver + S products are designed by Liesl Gibson. After starting a career in publishing and finance, Liesl returned to school and earned a degree in fashion design from New York's Fashion Institute of Technology. Before having a child, she worked as a designer for Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.

While staying home with the baby, Liesl began designing her daughter's clothing. "People were asking if they could buy the patterns for the dresses I was making," Liesl says. "One thing led to another, and I had a new career." In 2008 Liesl launched Oliver + S, a new brand of sewing patterns for children's clothing.

Grainline Studio
We are a pattern shop featuring modern, fashion-forward patterns that will fit seamlessly into your wardrobe. All of the patterns are drafted with a contemporary fit and we take extra care to provide clearly illustrated instructions that are easy to follow to ensure a professional finish. We believe that the best handmade wardrobe is one you can wear and be proud of on a daily basis. All of our patterns are drafted, graded and digitized by hand in our Chicago studio.

Visit their pattern shops, but don't forget to check out their blogs---there is so much to explore!

The other awesome pattern companies contributing to our Guest Blogger posts are By Hand London, Paper cut and Victory Patterns.
