Heidi from Oakland School for the Arts whipped this chic high-waisted black skirt together overnight. Really…overnight! She did not use a pattern; it is essentially a sewn rectangle with an attached sash and pockets. We love the style’s combination of carefree insolence and practicality. It is made with 1 ½ yards of 55” wide cotton. The cotton she used cost $5.99 a yard, and can be found on Britex Fabric’s 2nd floor.

Thanks for showing off your new skirt and you have inspired many want-to-be sewers how to create on a minimal scale. You do not always need the high-end sewing machine. You just need the incentive and a dash of the creative spirit. Looking forward to seeing your next creation!!
