Liberty of London Blouse by Colette

September 9, 2009 by Britex Fabrics 5 comment(s)

Colette on the 1st floor made this from Liberty of London cotton lawn.
The pattern is Decades of Style 5003. The blouse has cap sleeves with petal shaping at the shoulder edge. There are tucks in the front and darts at the back waist and shoulder to provide shaping. Draped collar and button closure. Liberty of London cotton fabric can be found on the 2nd floor (please call ahead to verify styles and colors).

I appreciate seeing this blouse made up because I just bought this pattern at Britex in August, I look forward to making it. Was the unusual neckline collar difficult and are there any tricks Collette would like to pass along?

I can certainly talk further with Colette about the neckline construction. I do know that she has a moderate amount of experience sewing, and that she praised the pattern as fairly easy to construct!

I just talked with Colette. She said that the collar was easy to construct. She also recommended that you do NOT use iron-in interfacing for the collar, but to use organza instead. She needed to tack the collar down to get it to lay correctly.

Beautiful blouse! Love the fabric choice. Do you have any photos of the back of the blouse, or a close up on how the collar attaches to the back neck facing? I am sewing this up now, but have reached an struggle in attaching the collar. Additionally, do you have any images of the photo on a person. It is so pretty. I would love any advice you can offer.

I'm sorry, but Colette no longer works here so I can't ask her for additional construction guidance. I looked through my photos, but could not find any photos of the back of the blouse. Best of luck!
