  1. Laurel Dress or Blouse (Beginner) by Colette Quickview

Laurel Dress or Blouse (Beginner) by Colette

A classic shift dress or blouse pattern with bias tape edging. Includes sizes 0 - 18

Looking for a stash-buster that will work with a wide range of fabrics and nearly any print? This chic and simple shift dress is easy to sew, astoundingly versatile, and comfortable to wear year-round. Edges are finished with bias tape, cutting down fabric requirements while letting you play with color and print combinations. Try a contrasting binding, or binding made from your self fabric. Bound edges also give a clean look for sheer fabrics.

The fit is semi-loose with a fitted bust and back darts to keep the shape streamlined. The absence of front seams or waist darts makes Laurel an ideal choice for prints that normally may be difficult to work with, such as stripes, plaids, or large scale florals.

Version 1 includes yardage and instructions for underlining, so you may use sheer or lace fabrics.

Version 2 includes menswear-style patch pockets.

Version 3 features classic 1960s style gathered cuffs.

Version 4 is an easy pullover blouse with no closures.

  8. 1930s Shaped Seam Skirt by Decades of Style Quickview

1930s Shaped Seam Skirt by Decades of Style

This skirt pattern from 1936 is another fabulous garment that will blend seamlessly into the modern wardrobe. Well actually, there are 3 seams to be exact but you know what we mean. The skirt has a shaped seam in the front and a side zipper opening. It is a fairly straight skirt with the fullness for walking provided by the shaping in the Skirt Front pieces. Any dress weight or bottom weight fabric will work just fine; something somewhat soft that will drape nicely. If you choose a fabric with a bold print, the shaped seam detail will disappear. We recommend finding a beautiful solid color to show off the design to its best advantage. Pattern includes all 9 sizes.

1930s Butterfly Blouse by Decades of Style

This vintage blouse pattern from the 1930s is SO PRETTY, it will appeal to even the most devoted tailored suit person. It is a wrap blouse with a saddle yoke at the shoulder and flowing, elbow-length sleeves. There is shirring at the shoulders in the front and ties that wrap around the back and meet at the front waist. You will want a medium to lightweight fabric with a nice drape. Silk, voile, rayon, gauze and chiffon are all great. It looks as great with a skirt as it does with jeans.

  10. 1931 Lily Jacket by Decades of Style Quickview

1931 Lily Jacket by Decades of Style

This vintage pattern from 1931 is truly exceptional. It is a waist length, unlined jacket with raglan sleeves. The jacket has quintessentially 1930s shaped seams and piecing - yet it looks right at home in the 21st century. The 3/4 length sleeve has a shaped hem to add even more to the timeless style of this jacket. There are 2 views: one with a tie closure at the center front waist; and one without the ties, featuring a double breasted button closure or no closure with the jacket front draped open. Choose a light to medium weight fabric. Linen, rayon, silks, challis, wool, light weight suiting. The front is self-lined so take this into consideration when choosing your fabric.
