Embrace Fall, Make Your Own Cardigan

Hi it’s Kristin from skirt as top and I’m back with a project that has me ready for fall.  The changing of the more “extreme” seasons (winter and summer) to the more “transitional” ones (spring and fall) always cause me to want to refresh.  The temperature dipped into the 60s here for a couple days and suddenly I was very excited for it to be cardigan and jeans weather again.  So for my project today, I chose this heathered gray and navy stripe cotton knit for a lightweight cardigan to ease me into the new season.

Tutorial + Scoop Top Pattern

Hello, Kristin from skirt as top here again! I was really excited to see that Britex is now offering knit fabric online! For this project I picked out a super cool Japanese tissue knit with scribbles all over it. I thought it’d be a great fabric to turn into a simple t-shirt using my favorite J.Crew shirt as a launch point, with plenty of my own modifications to get the perfect fit. And because I want to share the love of my new favorite shirt, I thought I’d offer a free pattern along with the tutorial today!

Tutorial: Adding Sleeves to Wiksten Tank in Flocking Bird Silk

Hello again, I’m Kristin from skirt as top and today I’m here with a pretty silk shirt. This navy and ivory flocking bird print was completely irresistible to me, and I was so excited to make a beautiful flowy top out of it for my sister.

I started with one of my favorite patterns, the Wiksten Tank. As I’ve done before, I decided to add three quarter sleeves, which gives the shirt a bit more substance and slightly more formal look, while maintaining the ease of the pattern.
