Guatemalan Cotton Chevroned Corset – Dina

Britex Fabrics’ store manager Dina, retrieving refreshments for our Designer Spotlight Series: Costume & Corsetry event in July. Dina’s enchanting deep purple corset was made from Guatemalan cotton from Britex Fabrics’ 2nd floor collection by the talented folks at Dark Garden. We love the rich plum-tastic colors and the unique chevron pattern formed by the fabric’s stripes!

INTRODUCING:
House of Nines Design is an independent hat maker based in San Francisco. All our hats are individually made by hand using a mix of traditional and modern techniques and only high quality materials. We produce custom hats and three ready-to-wear collections per year. Photo by Joel Aron.

Dark Garden – In business since 1989, Dark Garden’s uniqueness lies in their approach to making people feel beautiful – they create corsets and wedding gowns that truly express each individual’s personality and style, bringing out their natural beauty and boosting confidence. They believe every person has the right to feel gorgeous, not only on their wedding day, but any day they choose to make special. Through careful design and fitting, they produce beautiful, timeless and stylish garments that flatter and fit with amazing comfort. Photo by Joel Aron.

Sheri Jurnecka, a practicing San Francisco attorney, costumer, and corsetiere, has enjoyed creating and wearing fantasy and historical costumes since she was a teenager. Her interest in costuming has evolved over time to include embellished and imaginative corsetry as the basis for opulent evening and bridal wear.

Satin Shadow custom designs historical costumes for both men and women. From English Regency evening wear for men, including fall front breeches, to enchanting and highly embellished Victorian Gowns that are perfect for a romantic period wedding, to alluring Jazz Era dresses, exceptional for dancing away the night. Our goal is to make your fantasy costume a reality.

Dark Garden & Britex Fabrics!

Kristin from Dark Garden shared this amazing corset and skirt made for Jonelle from Britex Fabrics’ goods! Jonelle says, “I love how it looks sedate and tailored and “daytime” from the front, but the lacing in back is like a shot of Sriracha. Corsets make me feel beautiful. And I love that after I put one on, I can be confident that it’ll stay exactly the way it looked in the mirror until I take it off again. It does all the work of looking good so I don’t have to worry about it.” This sophisticated and stunning outfit is constructed of classic wool fabric, piped with in a coordinating blue, and finished with metal buttons.
