Molly came into Britex the other day with her mother, Kathy. Molly is 11 years old and an ice-skating artist; she has studied ballet for six years, and ice-skating for 2 1/2 years. She considers her costumes sewn from Britex fabrics and notions to bestow good luck upon her, and has won several performances wearing these glamorous skating costumes. The one-sleeved costume on the left is from her dramatic piece, ” The Dying Swan”, and the be-feathered costume on the right is from her light piece, “Mungojerrie and Rumpelteaser” from the musical “Cats”. Her mom says that “Costumes are a big part of skating presentation – they must accurately reflect the music choice and mood of the skater’s program. We’ve been asked at several competitions where we’ve been able to find such beautiful fabrics and trims and we always let people know it’s Britex.”

This fabulous and fuzzy purple plaid mohair coat was made by Yolanda. The coat pattern was self-drafted and she also made covered buttons. You can see her skill as a seamstress in the meticulous matching of the plaids. Douglas from Britex’s first floor was instrumental in assisting in her fabric choice. Yolanda has sewn for folks in Hollywood (including actress Doris Day) and Disney. If you look carefully in Disneyland’s Small World exhibit, you will see her handiwork!
