Sigh! We can’t get enough of Britex Fabrics’ Emily Payne and Lifetime’s Project Runway. Watch Project Runway Thursday night for more of our favorite home town designer.
San Francisco designer and Britex employee Emily Payne has been selected to join the cast of elite creators on Lifetime Channel’s hit series Project Runway. “Emily is a unique talent,” says Britex Fabrics owner Sharman Spector. “Her sense of style is dramatic, and her ability to put together intricate and unexpected combinations make her a stand-out.” Originally from Temple, Texas, Emily is happy to call San Francisco home. She produces her online and custom client Leathertongue designs here, as well as her childrenswear line Devonrose (inspired by her fashion-forward daughter, Devon), which has been carried in select stores from Brooklyn, NY to Dallas, TX. Over Project Runway’s 13 seasons, Emily is only the third San Francisco designer to be featured.
Season 10 finalist Melissa Fleis, who has become a national success and Bay Area favorite with her leatherwear, says, “Emily has been my go-to gal at Britex Fabrics for years. She’s extremely talented and I wish her all the best on the show.”
Britex manager Dina Fayer notes, “She’s one of the first people you see when you walk in the store, and her sense of style is immediately clear. Plus, Emily is a problem-solver: she can think on her feet and come up with creative solutions in just about any context.”
Project Runway-Season 13 airs on Thursdays at 9 PM, beginning on July 24th. This season, Tim Gunn and judges Heidi Klum, Zac Posen and Nina Garcia will be joined by guest judges Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Elisabeth Moss (Top of the Lake, Mad Men), Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars), Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn, entertainer Dita Von Teese, British TV personality Amanda de Cadenet, designer/Runway champ Christian Siriano, YouTube sensation Bethany Mota, and many more. There are several ways you can participate and show your support. Go to the Project Runway Site to Like Emily Payne. Plus, tweet your cheers for Emily using #DesignerEmily! Oh…and check out Emily’s Closet Tour and Home Tour videos in their eclectic San Francisco Chinatown apartment; Emily, Devin, Isaac, Bik, and Billy can invite us over for coffee anytime!

What’s a Textile Station?
We’re so glad you asked! Our new Textile Station is a way for you to test your fiber knowledge. See and feel raw fibers—silk, wool, cotton and flax—and try to guess what fabrics are made from those fibers. Here’s a hint…there may be some trick blends.
